Game Jam Nuremberg 2009
6. November 2009 - 17:00 - 8. November 2009 - 17:00
"Zentrifuge" Exhibition and Event Hall, Halle 14, "Auf AEG", Muggenhofer Straße 135, 90429 Nürnberg, Germany
create > play > innovate!
WiiMote - iPhone - Arduino - Multitouch - Camtracker - Midi Controller - QR-Codes - retro hardware or just mouse and keyboard. Develop new games with innovative interfaces or find new ideas for old favourites. Build mash-ups, set robots in motion - and let them play. Have fun!
Use Processing, PyGame, Blender, XNA, OGRE or whatever you have in your toolbox. Do your thing.
A weekend marked by fun, innovation and the joy of experimentation. Games developers, designers, artists, programmers, hardware wizards - beginners and professionals - form teams and develop computer games. A competition with the emphasis clearly on fun.
Whether you burn for ideation, concepts, sketching, artwork and design, game logic, hardware design, programming, character development, or audio - the Game Jam has room for every type of talent. The teams are free to choose their controller, programming language, and platform. Work with Flash, a game engine, or a PC game kit. Develop a game for mobile phones, for a PC or for a console - as long as you own the tools and can bring them along. Lash up your old joysticks to a monster control panel, program an iPhone as the central controller, build innovative interfaces with Arduino, or find newer, smarter ways to integrate mouse, keyboard and webcam in your game.
On Friday at 5pm, the theme for the games will be announced. Then we form small teams and work all weekend long on our games. The location is the "Zentrifuge" - an exhibition and event location at the former AEG site in Nürnberg. There's plenty of space for all participants, and the location is open around the clock - sleep is optional! The deadline falls - and the winner is announced - on Sunday at 3pm.
Are you ready to jam?
The fee for participants is 20 euros. Bring your own computer and any tools you need. Wifi and internet connections will be provided. You will need to organise your own food and drink. There are shops nearby; and the pizza services are on standby.
